Dovlu Nritya (ડોવળું નૃત્ય) — Sacred Tribal Dance of Surat & Tapi

Dovlu Nritya is a traditional tribal dance deeply intertwined with the festivals and cultural fabric of the indigenous communities residing in Surat and Tapi districts of Gujarat. This folk dance is inseparable from the festive celebrations and religious rituals of the Chaudhary and Gamit tribes, where dance, song, and music blend into a harmonious cultural expression.

The dance is named after the Dovlu, a traditional percussion instrument central to the rhythm and soul of the performance. Known also as Dovlu Nachanu, this dance is primarily performed during religious ceremonies and auspicious occasions.
